The patron of this year’s festival is without doubt the boldest, most modern and most highly respected in the history of jazz, and beyond. With a career spanning 60 years, 14 Grammy Awards, one Oscar and even a César, plus the title of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador to his name, Herbie Hancock can do it all - and is always one step ahead. A member of Miles Davis’s revolutionary quintet in the 1960s, mastermind of The Headhunters, composer of timeless hits and a brilliant pianist, our patron is definitely one of music’s biggest legends, and remains as curious and inventive as he was 60 years ago. It is an honour to welcome Herbie Hancock to the opening of this year’s festival. See you there!
Line-up: Herbie Hancock: piano & keyboards / Vinnie Colaiuta: drums / James Genus: bass / Lionel Loueke: guitar / Terrace Martin: saxophone & keyboards.
